Mica is a generic term. The FDA labeling laws dictate that any of the multitudes of phyllosilicate minerals, including materials with similar cleavage, be labeled generically as MICA in cosmetic labeling.  This is also inclusive of titanium dioxide-coated mica, to which both are to be listed.  This is what is usually used in cosmetics.  The mica provides the brilliance, the TI provides the color shift. This is inclusive of all micas, ground-based, ground up, dioctahedral, trioctahedral, sheet-formed, and so forth.

The largest consumption of mica in the modern world is electronic components as it’s a great electrical insulator.  Specifically, high-quality Indian ruby mica is used more often as the dielectric of choice. Computers, monitors, keyboards, radios, cars, electric mixers, televisions, power lines.. you name it.

Some types of mica are even used in the production of glass, plastic bags, silk, linen.. so forth.

We are not the manufacturer of the various raw ingredients required to produce a final cosmetic product.  However, it IS our job to responsibly source ingredients from trusted, vetted, long-standing suppliers of ingredients of the type who uphold our same values.

To that end, We source all of our ingredients from the United States, some from Europe, and some from Canada. All of which we make sure do not involve child labor.  . Specifically, all of our mica is sourced in the USA from privately owned mines. This allows us to be assured that child labor is never used and the miners are paid fairly and treated well
